Coming from a family who ran their own small business, Martin’s initial instincts were to do the opposite; he learnt his marketing trade at food giants Nestle, UK beer and leisure giant, Whitbread, and then in pan-European and pan-Asian roles heading up marketing for Levi-Strauss.
In 1999 he moved to Australia, connecting with Warren Brown, creative founder of BMF, looking for a more entrepreneurial environment. As Managing Director, he helped grow the agency from 15 to 220 people over a 10-year period, bringing in digital, retail and direct marketing capabilities, as well as running the agency’s two largest accounts, ALDI and Commonwealth Bank.
Following the successful sale of the agency he was approached for the CMO role at RM Williams (following a private equity investment) and led the repositioning of this iconic Australian footwear and apparel brand. A digital and e-commerce veteran from pioneering development with Levi’s in the 90s, he ran the in-house dev team at BMF, and most recently led the successful re-boot of the RM Williams e-commerce offer.
